Small Hydroelectric Centers (SHCs) are the solution for using water in the generation of clean energy with a minimum of environmental impact.
Small Hydroelectric Centers Projects help answer the growing demand for energy in Brazil, a result from the economic growth. It is also the answer to improving the supply of energy, at the same time that it contributes to environmental sustainability – social and economical – through an increase in renewable energy as compared to the total consumption of electricity in Brazil (and South America and the Caribbean too). |
|
This spring of local and cleaner electricity also brings an important contribution to environmental sustainability, reducing carbon dioxide emissions, which would happen if the project were not. The activity of this type of project reduces the emission of greenhouse gases (GEEs), avoiding the generation of electricity via fossil fuel (and CO2 emissions), which would be generated (and emitted) if the project did not exist.
The Small Hydroelectric Centers Projects, with small reservoirs, distribute energy locally, differently form the most common working way: the big hydroelectric and natural gas plants built in the last years. |
|
This type of project brings specific advantages for the place, as far as trust, transmission and distribution are concerned, which includes:
- More reliability with less frequent and shorter interruptions;
- Less demands in relation with reserve margin;
- Reactive energy controlled;
- Reduction of jams in Transmission and Distribution (T&D);
- Bigger capacity for the system with less investment in T&D.
Besides SHCs, Aeolic and Hydroelectric Energy projects can also be eligible for the obtention of Carbon Credits.
JMalucelli & CMC Ambiental´s have great expertise and know-how about SHCs, Aeolic and Hydroelectric Energy, having already worked in some of those projects with Kyoto Protocol´s CDM registration and validation. |
